As Headteacher, I am delighted to welcome you to our school website, and hope that it will provide you with an insight into some of the many aspects of our work as well as its culture and the high standards that we set.

Being passionate about learning, it is placed at the heart of all we do. Through clubs, trips and other extra-curricular activities our students excel in many areas.  In sport, visual and performing arts as well as writing, Maths, Science and technology they have achieved success and recognition in local and national competitions. As a friendly, caring and inclusive community we provide ‘an outstanding quality of care, guidance and support.’ (Ofsted 2011)  We set great store by students’ personal development, in a happy and safe environment so that they can become independent learners and responsible, confident adults.

The success of any school is measured by the achievements of its students. Over the last few years our examination results have improved year on year. Highlights include 2010 when we were recognised as being one of Oxfordshire's most improved schools and in 2011 when A-level Maths results achieved by our students were ranked in the top 10 of schools in the country. In 2012 the percentage of students achieving 5 or more grades at C or above was our best ever GCSE results. We built on this excellent foundation for 2013, when 77% of GSCE students achieved at least 5 A*-C grades and 25% achieved the English Baccalaureate (when only 16% of students nationally achieved this measure last year). The A-level results for those taught at John Mason School in 2013 were consistent with good and outstanding schools in Oxfordshire and we had a 100% pass rate, including 81% at A*-C grade (when the national average is 77%).

Both staff and parents have a vital role to play in our young people’s progress. We, therefore, look forward to welcoming you to John Mason School and hope that together we can provide the best education and range of opportunities.

I trust that this website will provide you with relevant information and be a useful way for you to keep in touch with events in the school. If you would like to know more or to visit us please contact us directly by phone or email.
